FG Gives Conditions For the Reopening of Schools

The Federal Government has disclosed certain conditions that have to be met before schools and tertiary institutions in the country will be reopened institutions in Nigeria. This was made known by the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, at the 2020 JAMB Policy meeting.

According to him, all Institutions must have hand-washing facilities, Body temperature checks, Body disinfectants at all entering points to their major facilities including the gates, hostels, classes, offices, etc., the whole premises of each institution must be decontaminated, all efforts must be geared toward maintenance of the highest level of hygiene and finally, Social and Physical Distancing in class sizes and meeting spaces must be ensured.

In his speech, he recommended the upper establishments for responding promptly with completely different improvements, together with the manufacturing of some of the amenities that have been required to take care of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

He warned establishments towards the reopening of faculties with out Federal Governments’ approval.

He added that whereas we Iook ahead to easing the Lockdown which is able to finally result in re-opening of our campuses, Heads of the completely different tertiary establishments mustn’t wait until the announcement on reopening earlier than putting in all essential measures in compliance with the protocols and advisories of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
