Federal Government to begin repair work on Third Mainland Bridge

The Third Mainland Bridge can be shut down for repairs for six months, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Olukayode Popoola, has mentioned.

He mentioned the repair would begin on July 24 and could be accomplished in December.

Popoola in a press release yesterday mentioned consultations are on for one more section of repair works to begin on the 11.8km bridge.

He mentioned work will begin on the outward mainland part of the bridge first, including that the ministry is working with companies to good methods for visitors management in the course of the interval.

The bridge has gone by way of a sequence of repair works and was the final shut in August 2018, for a three-day investigative upkeep examine.

There have been experiences of some worn-out enlargement joints on the bridge, elevating considerations over the integrity of the bridge.
