Four policemen on duty near a kidnap scene in Nasarawa state on July 14 are on the verge of losing their jobs for failing to stop the attack.
A nephew of former information minister Labaran Maku was kidnapped in the attack.
Salisu Usman Maku, who was abducted alongside his wife, was later killed, as was his younger sister Sa’adatu.
Commissioner of Police Bola Longe said the four policemen on duty in the area had been arrested and were likely to be dismissed from service.
“As a professional police officer, you don’t take cover and hide; you take cover and act, it is only the driver of the police Hilux that is set free because his job is to drive the vehicle and he was actually in the car during the operation, but the other four armed police officers took cover and hid,” he said.
