Why Schools Can’t Reopen Now, By PTF

The Presidential Task Force(PTF) on COVID-19 has defined why faculties can’t reopen now.

It stated the choice was a part of measures being taken to guard weak Nigerians who could have some underlying infections.


National Coordinator of the PTF, Dr. Sani Aliyu, said the decision to restrict gathering in churches and mosque was informed by the fact that most of those who go there are within vulnerable Nigerians who could have underlying diseases.


He stated the PTF was working intently with the Ministry of Education to work out a resumption plan for faculties in view of the truth that majority of scholars could also be dwelling with the weak group of Nigerians they had been striving to guard.


He stated that the plan could also be to permit those that had been supposed to write down examinations to take action saying “we don’t need what has occurred to have an effect on the following tutorial session”.


He said 20 percent of Nigerian have underlying infections, including the federal government has a responsibility to guard them in opposition to an infection, therefore the suggestion by authorities for folks to remain at residence.
